Sears Canada is a Toronto-based retailer operating a national network of Sears Travel offices, corporate stores, home improvement stores, dealer stores, and an installation, repair, and maintenance network. Sears Canada is traded on TSX under the ticker symbol SCC. The main competitors of the company are Canadian Tire Corporation Limited, Leon’s Furniture Ltd., and Best Buy Canada Ltd.

The company began operations in 1952 as Simpsons-Sears Limited, which was a mid-market suburban and catalogue retailer. It was created as a joint-venture between Sears, Roebuck and Co., and the Robert Simpson Company. Simpsons-Sears has expanded in the metropolitan areas since 1973, opening its first stores under the Sears banner. Sears rebranded all existing stores too. With the 1999 acquisition of the T. Eaton Company Limited, the company acquired the leases for many prime locations in Victoria, Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, and Winnipeg.

Sears Canada offers a large selection of furniture items, appliances, women and men clothing, accessories, jewelry and watches, and more. The company features a wide array of services, including real estate services, repair services, storage solutions, financial services, and others. Sears offers to its clients two types of insurance – life insurance and accident insurance.

The Sears Garden Centre is one of the specialty service locations, giving clients the opportunity to choose from a wide selection of plants and flowers such as vines, shrubs, roses, trees, and more. Sears Travel is another specialty service location, allowing clients to find cruises, vacation packages, flights, hotels, and cars. Clients can look into vacation deals, popular vacation destinations, and more. With Sears Connect, clients of the company can choose from different telecommunications solutions, including high speed internet, telecom bundles, and mobile phones, offered with no access fees, no activation fee, and 30-day money back guarantee. Telephone bundles are featured with a home phone, unlimited high speed internet connection, and long distance calls. Clients can take advantage of the company’s long distance call plan, connecting internationally and within North America. Depending on their budget, clients can choose from two long distance calling cards – prepaid and postpaid calling cards. Finally, clients can opt for the Sears credit card and earn rewards points.
