Quebecor Inc. is a Montreal-based communications company, which owns 55 percent of Quebecor Media, a publishing, communications, and broadcasting company that operates a number of subsidiaries. Among them are Osprey Media, Sun Media, TVA, TVA Publishing, and others. The company is traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbols QBR.B and QBR.A. Among the main competitors of Quebecor Inc are the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, BCE Inc., and Rogers Communications Inc.

In 1950, Pierre Péladeau bought Le Journal de Rosemont, his first newspaper, and in 1964, he launched Le Journal de Montréal. Quebecor Inc was incorporated in 1965 and went public in 1972. In 1987, it took stake in Donohue, and its printing business started in 1990, when Quebecor acquired the US printing operations of Maxwell Communication Corp. The company acquired Sun Media in 1999.

Today, Quebecor is among the largest media and communications companies in Canada, offering services such as wireless and cable telephone, digital and analog broadcasting, and internet services. The company is engaged in book, magazine, and newspaper publishing, and the retailing and distribution of a wide selection of cultural products. Quebecor features a number of Videotron services and products, including cable broadcasting and cable telephony, which is free between subscribers. Softphone offers a multiline/ call management service, while the wireless telephony, offered by the company, is an entertainment platform.

TVA Group is a subsidiary of the company and the owner of Le Canal Nouvelles TVA and six stations. The company has interest in the Indigo pay per view service, the Canal Évasion specialty channel, two TVA affiliates, and a variety of digital services, such as Mystère and mentv, and others. TVA Publishing is a subsidiary of TVA Group which publishes celebrity and general interest monthlies and weeklies. TVA Films, another subsidiary of TVA Group is engaged in the distribution of television products and films on the French language and English language markets in Canada. Finally, TVA Productions is the company’s publishing house, with a focus on documentaries, game shows, specials, galas, live broadcasts, corporate videos, and news magazines.
